Duo linked with Rovers post
Blackburn have sacked Michael Appleton after just 15 games, with Danny Murphy and Mark Hughes among those being linked with the post.
Despite leading Rovers to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, the former Blackpool and Portsmouth boss has come under pressure with the side sliding down the Championship table.
Blackburn are currently 18th and just four points outside the relegation zone, having not won in the league since February 9, with Appleton now paying the price.
Reserve team manager Gary Bowyer has been put in charge for the remainder of the season, but already a number of big names have been mentioned as potential candidates.
Current player Murphy is believed to be keen to get into management and could be a contender, whilst ex-Rovers chief Hughes has been out of work since being sacked by QPR in November.
