Ince safe for now
Blackburn Rovers, 14:32, December 12, 2008 ,
Paul Ince says he has the full support of the Blackburn board and has even been given the go-ahead to sign new players.
Ince is under pressure at Ewood Park after failing to pick up a win in 10 games and he met with the board earlier in the week, when reports claimed his future was top of the agenda.
However, Ince says the meeting was set up weeks ago and was not hastily arranged to discuss his position as Rovers boss. Ince also says he has the full backing of the board, who are ready to support him when the January transfer window opens.
"It [the board meeting] was something that was booked five weeks ago. Some guys want to make it like it was a crisis meeting, but it was nothing like that," he said.
"We had a chat for a couple of hours and we are all singing from the same hymn sheet. We hope we can start winning games - and with January coming up, we are looking at a couple of (transfer) targets.
"The only way I can stop speculation is by getting three points on the board. I don't look at the papers, but people tell me every time you pick them up there is something about Blackburn.
"That is football, but I want to concentrate on Saturday and getting the players right."
