Renewed Samba swoop on cards
Blackburn are bracing themselves for Tottenham to make a renewed bid to sign influential captain Chris Samba in this transfer window.
The 27-year-old defender was linked with a move to Spurs and Arsenal during the summer, but Rovers managed to keep hold of their prized asset.
However, with Rovers now embroiled in a scrap to stay in the Premier League following a disappointing first half of the season, it is being reported that the Congo international will look to secure a move to realise his ambitions of playing European football with a bigger club.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp could be set to offer £8million to secure the services of Samba as he looks to bring in valuable competition for the likes of Ledley King and William Gallas.
Rovers boss Steve Kean will be desperate to keep Samba at Ewood Park to help in the club's fight for survival, but it appears Spurs have got wind of the rumours that Rovers' owners Venky's want the player's reported £60,000-a-week salary of the wage bill.
If a bid is forthcoming and Venky's do push to sell Samba then Kean could be pacified if he is promised some of the proceeds from the sale to reinforce his Rovers' squad with several players such as Andy Johnson and Nedum Onouha.
