Rovers look set to sign their second striker in as many days with former Portuguese international Nuno Gomes set to follow Leon Best.
Gomes has arrived in England this morning for a medical as Steve Kean looks to strengthen the Rovers attack ahead of the new Championship season.
The former Benfica striker turns 36 on Thursday and is available on a free transfer after his contract expired with Portuguese side Braga.
Kean has managed to persuade Gomes to move to Lancashire, despite offers on the table to move to the USA or the Middle East.
Kean will be hoping that Gomes can strike a partnership with fellow new recruit Best, but questions will be asked about whether Gomes can still perform at this level.
Gomes has 156 goals to his name after an 18 year career, which includes over 70 caps for Portugal.
