Sam targets striker swap

Blackburn Rovers, 09:04, January 26, 2010 ,

Blackburn are looking to sign Eidur Gudjohnsen on loan as Benni McCarthy is poised to join West Ham before the window closes.

McCarthy has angered Rovers boss Sam Allardyce by failing to turn up for training on the last two days and it looks as though the player is heading to West Ham.
The South African has made it clear he wants to move on and the deal is expected to go through even though Allardyce says there is still work to be done.
"We have said all along that we will listen to offers, but only agree to sell if both the commercial and football reasons satisfy Blackburn Rovers. That situation remains unchanged," said Allardyce.
"We are very disappointed with Benni's non-appearance for training and will deal with it separately should he remain here after the transfer window has closed."
Allardyce will now try and sign Gudjohnsen on loan from Monaco while unsettled Stoke striker James Beattie is also a target should the Icelandic ace stay in France.
