Williams happy with midfielder deal
Blackburn Rovers, 13:29, May 19, 2010 ,
Blackburn chairman John Williams has said he is delighted Morten Gamst Pedersen has decided to sign a new four-year contract.
The 28-year-old has been in talks with the club over his future for some time with speculation indicating manager Sam Allardyce could be willing to get rid of the Norway international.
However, after an impressive second half to the season Rovers decided to offer Pedersen a new deal which he has finally put pen to paper on, much to the delight of Williams.
"I'm delighted that Morten has signed a new four-year contract," Williams told the club's official website.
"What appeared to be a lengthy negotiation was always carried out in a positive constructive manner with Morten making it clear that he wanted to stay.
"Sam is currently on holiday but he'll be delighted, he made this, together with finding a striker, our summer priority.
"He regards Morten as a key member of the squad and his future at Ewood Park is now secure."
