Baptiste pledges future

Blackpool, 17:43, January 20, 2010 ,

Alex Baptiste has pledged his future to Blackpool by penning a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2013.

The 23-year-old was due to fall out of contract in the summer and even though Ian Holloway had the option to keep him for another 12 months, he was keen to get him tied down to something more long-term.
Baptiste has now penned the deal and says he is delighted to have committed his future.
"I'm very pleased, I had a good chat with the gaffer (Ian Holloway) and Tommo (Steve Thompson) and the direction of the club is upwards and I want to be a part of it," the 23-year-old said.
"If someone would have said I would be signing a new contract when I first signed, I would have thought you were mad.
"There are some quality players in the squad and I am delighted with the way things have gone, I always give 100 per cent and I am delighted to have signed a new deal."
