Barker close to facing Canaries

Blackpool, 17:00, August 15, 2008 ,

Club captain Shaun Barker could make an early return to action from a thigh injury for Blackpool's trip to Norwich on Saturday.

Barker has been sorely missed in the Seasiders line up as Simon Grayson's side lost their opening Championship game 1-0 against Bristol City last week and crashed out of the Carling Cup at Macclesfield in midweek. Therefore his return at Carrow Road would be a big boost if he makes it.
On loan Watford forward Steve Kabba could also make his debut after returning to training following an Achilles injury and he will line up alongside Ben Burgess if selected.
Midfielder Keith Southern is suspended after his red card in midweek and his place will be taken by Claus Jorgensen, who was rested for the game. Left-back Stephen Crainey and strikers Daniel Nardiello and Stephen McPhee are all rated doubtful.
Grayson has told his players to forget the opening two defeats and look to get back on track against Norwich this weekend.
"The players are professionals and there is no doubt they are hurt by what happened at Macclesfield," he said.
"But it's gone now, it's history and we have to dust ourselves down and prepare for the weekend as we can't afford to feel sorry for ourselves."
