Defender keen on Seasiders switch

Blackpool, 10:31, July 31, 2010 ,

Swansea defender Angel Rangel has told the club he wants to leave following a rejected bid by Blackpool.

Blackpool have already seen a bid in the region of £750,000 rejected by the Welsh side for the Spaniard but the player has now told Swansea he would like to make the move to the Premier League new boys and Swansea have confirmed they are willing to discuss a transfer.
"Angel has given us his views on where he sees himself at our club and in the future," said Swans chairman Huw Jenkins.
"We discussed a variety of options ? Angel staying at the club until his contract runs out, Angel looking at a new proposal from us or, if we agree a fee, Angel speaking to Blackpool.
"I think he feels that because of his age and the fact that he has been with us for a number of years, there's an opportunity there (at Blackpool) that he would like to take advantage of.
"That's come over to us quite strongly and we are under no illusions as to where we stand with him."
However, despite the fact Rangel has just one year left on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium the Swans will not allow the defender to leave on the cheap, but revealed Blackpool's initial offer was fairly close to their own valuation of the player.
Jenkins added: "If they want to pursue his signature, it's up to Blackpool to keep the negotiations going.
"They are not a million miles away and, as things stand, we will be talking to the player and his representatives quite a lot over the next few days."
