Grayson hopeful of Kabba fitness

Blackpool, 16:26, August 14, 2008 ,

Simon Grayson is hoping to have loan striker Steve Kabba fit in time to make his Blackpool debut at Norwich City on Saturday.

The Seasiders boss admitted he was worried about his side's defensive frailties in the past week, but with no goals in the past seven games, there is clearly something not quite right in the striker department.
Ben Burgess is the only fit hitman available so Grayson is looking to get Kabba, who has joined on loan from Watford, fit from an Achilles problem to face the Canaries at Carrow Road.
"He has been back in training this week and is in contention for the weekend," Grayson told the Gazette.
"It is a possibility to throw Steve straight in on Saturday, given our lack of striking options, and it's something I'll look at.
"He is nearly 100 per cent fit but I am a little wary because I don't want him to get injured again.
"We don't want a recurrence of his original injury so we've got to be careful. I'll analyse the situation in the next couple of days ahead of Norwich."
Meanwhile Blackpool confirmed that they will not be appealing against skipper Keith Southern's red card for an alleged headbutt on Macclesfield's Terry Dunfield in the Carling Cup defeat on Tuesday.
A club spokesman said: "Having deliberated the matter we've decided not to appeal. Keith will serve a three-match ban and will miss the games against Norwich, Sheffield United and Southampton".
