Race hots up for Gers ace
Blackpool, 16:52, June 16, 2009 ,
Barnsley have failed with a bid to sign Charlie Adam as Blackpool face strong competition for the player's signature.
The Seasiders are keen to wrap up a deal for the Rangers defender but there is interest from Barnsley, Reading and Preston as the race for the player starts to hot up.
Barnsley have gone as far as making a bid but it fell short of Rangers' £500,000 valuation and it was subsequently turned down.
"He did very well at Blackpool and played very well against us," admitted Tykes boss Simon Davey. "What he would bring to the squad is a winning mentality.
"However, Rangers turned the bid down and there's a price we won't go over, so we have to find the right price."
Blackpool will now have to move quickly if they want to conclude a deal but they would also have to meet the £500,000 asking price.
