Seasiders chief in Holoway bid

Blackpool, 09:25, January 28, 2011

Blackpool chief Karl Oyston has allayed fears that boss Ian Holloway will quit after they were punished for fielding a weakened team.

The acting chief executive spoke out following the Premier League's decision to fine the Seasiders £25,000 for fielding an under-strength side in their 3-2 defeat at Aston Villa in November when Holloway opted to make 10 changes to his starting XI.
Holloway insisted that he was making full use of his squad in a three-game week and threatened to resign if the Premier League took action against the club.
The former Bristol Rovers, Plymouth, QPR and Leicester chief then said he would depart if Oyston felt it would be in the best interests of the club.
Oyston has now responded to insist that he wants Holloway to stay at Bloomfield Road and will do all he can to ensure he does.
He told talkSPORT: "I support whatever decision he makes so I've no issue with Ian and I think for Ian to even consider resigning when he's done so magnificently well for us since he was appointed is something that I certainly wouldn't preside over.
"I'll do everything in my power to ensure that Ian stays with Blackpool as long as I can keep him there."
On the punishment from the Premier League, he added: "I've got real difficulties grasping the logic that's been applied to this on several levels.
"This game has been turned into a squad game by the Premier League, not us.
"We've named our squad in good faith and we intend to use all of that squad and the manager should be allowed to.
"If the Premier League think those players aren't good enough to appear on our behalf then maybe they should tell us that as we nominate them and maybe they should pick our team for us."

When is the Premier League going to explain how they can have the 25 player roster and yet fine some teams for playing players even though they're part of the 25 man squad. I say some teams such as Man Utd and Liverpool have both played so called "weak" teams but were not fined? seems like a double standard here???
In light of all the above maybe each club should ask the League to select their teams for them as it is obvious that these little men sitting in their ivory tower have no confidence in club managers ability to do this??
Having said this I'm confident that Premier league committee won't have the courage to face the media and explain all the above??
