Seasiders on verge of windfall
Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has revealed his squad stand to benefit from a £5million windfall if they earn promotion to the Barclays Premier League.
The Seasiders are currently fifth in the npower Championship with three games of the season remaining and are closing in on a play-off spot as they seek an immediate return to the top flight.
When asked about reports of the bonus by Sky Sports News, Holloway said: "It is true. That makes it almost an extra £10,000 per game, or the equivalent of that per week.
"It's there if they want to earn it, other clubs pay that anyway and some of them are a lot lower than us.
"So does that (high wages) work? Probably not, unless you want to go bankrupt like lots of clubs are.
"Our budget is £7.8million. Ask any other chairman in our division what that is. There won't be too many clubs on less than that."
