Cambridge United boss Jez George paid for 80 U's fans to travel to watch the club's 3-1 win at Barrow on Saturday.
The U's manager is thought to have paid over a thousand pounds for the away support tickets, while the Cambridge players put money together to buy pizzas for the fans' five-hour trip. George said he and the players wanted to thank the supporters for their backing throughout the 2011-12 season in the Blue Square Bet Premier League. He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:"It's a very, very small gesture from us, just as a big thank you. It's for the many hours travelling, and money they've spent all season. "We work for them. We want to make them happy every weekend."
