Cambridge sign Wellard

Cambridge United have completed the signing of former AFC Wimbledon midfielder Ricky Wellard on a two-year deal.

The 24-year-old was released by the Dons at the end of the 2011-12 season and was quick to put pen to paper to sign for the U's where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in February 2011.
Cambridge boss Jez George was pleased with the capture of Wellard, telling the club's official website: "Ricky fits perfectly with the type and quality of player that we are trying to attract to the club."
"He has composure on the ball, energy, presence and the fact that he is left-footed will give us balance and different options in midfield."
