Cambridge United striker Michael Gash has returned to the club with an injury picked up during his loan spell at Braintree.
Gash, 26, joined Braintree on a one month loan deal last month following the arrival of Sam Smith and Tom Elliott at the Abbey Stadium Gash scored one goal in six appearances during his loan spell, which ended today, but has returned to his parent club with a broken wrist. United manager Jez George has hit out at Braintree for failing to inform the club. "Gashy came in to train with us yesterday and complained about a sore wrist he had hurt playing for Braintree a week-and-a-half ago," he told Cambridge News. "We sent him to hospital and found out he has fractured a bone in his wrist. "That was a surprise because no-one from their club had contacted me, they'd just strapped it up." George had hoped Gash could feature in Cambridge's home tie against Telford on Saturday. He added: "He's going to the hospital on Friday to ascertain what needs to be done. If he needs a cast, he can't play, if he doesn't, he can play, so we'll just have to wait and see."
