Cambridge United boss Jez George has revealed new signing Scott Garner turned down more lucrative offers to join the U's.

The 22-year-old signed a two-year deal on Wednesday, after being released by Grimsby at the end of last term.
George says the centre-half, who began his career with Leicester, will strengthen his defensive resources, with captain Michael Wylde and Josh Coulson recovering from recent operations.
"He's young, but has good experience in this league, has the potential to develop and will improve our squad. Scott is dominant in the air, aggressive and a no-nonsense defender who loves defending," said the Cambridge manager.
"Scott has turned down more lucrative offers from elsewhere and has committed his future to Cambridge United because he believes in our vision of what we're trying to achieve and how we're trying to achieve it."
