Bolton Wanderers look set to frustrate Birmingham's move to try and take Trotters defender Danny Shittu on loan.
Reports in The Bolton News on Saturday have indicated that Trotters boss Gary Megson will reject the offer from the Championship side to take Shittu on loan, despite the former Watford defender's failure to make an impact at the Reebok Stadium.
With the squad thin on the ground, Megson is reportedly unlikely to agree to the loan switch for the time being despite Sebastien Puygrenier joining in the January transfer window as cover at the back.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has refused to rule out a move for Shittu and it was thought that a deal for the 28-year-old could go through before the weekend.
However, despite Shittu's pleas to let him leave the Reebok Stadium Megon appears intent on keeping him in the north-west for the foreseeable future.
