Defender linked with switch

Bolton are being linked with a move for Wigan defender Ryan Taylor, who is due to fall out of contract in the summer.

Taylor has had a nightmare on the injury front over the last couple of seasons but marked his return to the Latics side with a thunderbolt free kick against Newcastle at the weekend.

Wigan boss Steve Bruce wants to tie him down to a new deal but the player will be free to talk to other clubs from January and may decide to weigh up his options before making up his mind.

Everton are also keen but Bruce says he wants to keep hold.

"Ryan is like any other player, he just wants to play, that's something I totally understand," he revealed. "He came in and did very well against Newcastle, and he's very much part of my plans here."
