Bolton boss Gary Megson is on the look-out for several new faces and admits he must add to his squad in the January transfer window.
The lack of depth available to the manager was shown when untried youngsters Chris Basham, Temitope Obadeyi and Rob Sissons were named on the bench for the clash with Hull on Saturday.
Megson said: "We have some decent players at this football club. We just need to add to them with a few more bodies.
"That means when a few people drop out through injury and suspension, as we had at the weekend, we're not having to put a great onus on the kids coming through and learning their trade.
"There we three of them (youngsters) on the bench against Hull and we'd have had the confidence to put them on if we needed to," he said.
"But when you look at other peoples' benches, there's obviously a lot of work for us to do.
"We're down on numbers but it had to happen. You can have 70 players in your squad, but it doesn't matter if you can't get a decent 11 out."
