Midfield target offered new deal
Bolton Wanderers, 11:18, March 23, 2009 ,
Portsmouth are set to offer Bolton target Sean Davis a new contract to stop him leaving the club for nothing in the summer.
Wanderers boss Gary Megson failed with a bid to land the midfielder during the January transfer window but revealed afterwards that he would go back in for him when the transfer window opens again in the summer.
The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and can walk away for nothing if he wants to, but Pompey have moved to try and secure him on a new deal.
Pompey's executive chairman Peter Storrie claims that the club have already made the 29-year-old an offer and are waiting to hear his response.
"Sean has been offered a three year contract," Storrie said. "We made a very good offer and actually improved it.
"But I think he just wants to wait and keep his options open until the end of the season. We would like him to stay but it is in his hands now."
