Bolton striker Heidar Helguson is on the verge of signing for QPR on loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Helguson, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, has slipped down the pecking order at the Reebok Stadium and Trotters boss Gary Megson could be willing to let him move on.
The 31-year-old Icelandic international is likely to be available now that Johan Elmander is back fit and a month's loan at Loftus Road could be pushed through before the weekend.
QPR are desperate to add some firepower to the squad after scoring just five goals in their past 10 league and cup games. But a move for Sunderland's Michael Chopra floundered last week when the striker preferred to rejoin his former club, Cardiff, on loan instead and they are now ready to turn to Helguson.
Reports have also claimed that a £1.5million fee has also been agreed to make the deal permanent should he impress.
