Bolton have signed Poland striker Ebi Smolarek on a season-long loan and will have the option to buy the Racing Santander ace.
The 27-year-old had been mentioned as a possible target for boss Gary Megson and Bolton have managed to rush a deal through ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.
Smolarek, whose dad was a famous player for Poland during the 1980s, has previously played for Borussia Dortmund and Feyenoord and joined Racing in the summer of 2007.
The three-times Polish player of the year has an excellent international record, having scored 13 goals in 34 appearances for his country.
A statement on the Spanish club's website read: "Racing and Bolton have reached an agreement for the loan of Ebi Smolarek to the British team until June 30, 2009.
"As well as that, the English outfit have an option to buy the Polish striker."
