Villa swoop in doubt

Bolton boss Gary Megson may have to look elsewhere for a new defender as Zat Knight could end up staying at Aston Villa.
Megson revealed he was hoping to wrap up a triple deal for Knight, Lee Chung-Yong and Ferrie Bodde by the end of the week but now reports claim a deal for the Villa central defender is in doubt.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill is reluctant to let Knight go until he has found a replacement and that means a frustrated Megson may have to switch targets or run the risk of being left empty handed.
Villa are already looking to replace Martin Laursen and Knight feels he could still have a future at Villa Park.
"We will miss Martin," Knight said. "We missed him at the end of last season. But it gives others an opportunity now ? and hopefully that can be me. I want to give myself a good pre-season and then be in the side when the new campaign starts."
