Harry Arter comes back into the reckoning for Bournemouth ahead of their trip along the south coast to face Portsmouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
Midfielder Arter missed the 5-3 league defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday through suspension. Veteran striker Steve Fletcher was rested for a second successive match at Bramall Lane but the 40-year-old could come back into the squad to face Pompey. Summer signing Richard Hughes made his first appearance for the club as a second-half substitute against the Blades and manager Paul Groves could use the first round tie to put more minutes into the midfielder's legs. Likewise with Josh McQuoid who made his return from a foot injury at the weekend. Charlie Sheringham (foot) and Frank Demouge (knee) are nearing a return from their respective injuries, but Wes Fogden (shoulder) is a more long-term absentee.
