Bournemouth caretaker manager Paul Groves has been named as the front-runner to take on the job permanently. The former Grimsby boss took over the role at Dean Court when Lee Bradbury was sacked in March, stepping up from youth team coach. The Cherries have lost just two games in seven with Groves in charge, leading chairman Eddie Mitchell to state him as his preferred choice to replace Bradbury. Mitchell is set to discuss the managerial situation with co-owner Maxim Demin after the final match of the season against Preston on Saturday, and Groves admits he is flattered by his chairman's comments. "I think it's very complimentary from the chairman to come out and make that statement. "We came in and the remit was to take the team until the end of the season, that's what we've done and we will continue to take the team on a game-to-game basis."
