City manager leaves club

Bradford City, 12:04, February 8, 2010 ,

Bradford City boss Stuart McCall had resigned as the manager of League Two club, it has been confirmed.

McCall met with joint-chairman Julian Rhodes on Monday to discuss his future and decided after the meeting that it was the right time to go.
McCall told BBC radio Leeds: "It's coming to a stage now where it is time for somebody new to come in. It's just not meant to be."
The 45-year-old took charge at Valley Parade in May 2007 and was on the verge of quitting last season after the team failed to make the play-offs but was persuaded to stay on by the board.
However, the Bantams' fortunes have failed to improve this term and the weekend defeat against Bury was their sixth of the season at home - leaving them 12 points outside the play-off spots.
"I'm hurt because I wanted to be a success here and the bottom line is I haven't been," he added. "It's not been for a lack of effort and I couldn't have had more support from the players, staff, Julian as the chairman and the fans.
"If there was anywhere I wanted to succeed it was here. I had two great spells here as a player but the dream I had of being a manager and getting success has not come off."
McCall's assistant Wayne Jacobs will now take temporary charge at the club and could be in control for City's next game at home to Grimsby on Saturday.
