Akinde seals his Robins move

Bristol City, 17:42, September 1, 2008

Ebbsfleet United striker John Akinde has completed his £140,000 transfer to Bristol City on a three-year contract.

The 19-year-old is one of two strikers Robins boss Gary Johnson was looking to take to Ashton Gate ahead of the midnight transfer deadline on Monday as he awaits news of Crystal Palace frontman James Scowcroft.

Akinde got the green light to join City when members of myfootballclub.co.uk, who own Ebbsfleet United, voted via the internet to the sale.

Ebbsfleet CEO David Davis said: "The offer for John Akinde was presented to the owners of Ebbsfleet United on Wednesday evening. 48 hours later, 82.3 per cent of 7,452 members who voted said the club should accept the offer for John Akinde."
