Brooker and Carey on way back

Bristol City, 17:50, November 11, 2008

Steve Brooker and Louis Carey made their Bristol City returns in the reserves' 6-1 drubbing of Salisbury City on Tuesday.

Brooker, who has not played since September because of an Achilles injury, bagged a brace as a second-half substitute and also missed a penalty, while Carey came through 90 minutes on his return from toe and knee injuries.

Assistant manager Keith Millen told the official club website: "Steve Brooker looked good when he came on and could have had a hat-trick. He suffered a clash of heads but that's nothing really, the most important thing is his fitness looked right.

"Louis played the full 90 minutes and came through unscathed, which is a real bonus. It was a good work-out overall."
