Marvin impresses Premier boss

Bristol City, 17:45, January 14, 2009 ,

Portsmouth manager Tony Adams admitted Bristol City edged the midfield battle after his side advanced to the FA Cup fourth round.

Peter Crouch was on target for the Premier League side who won 2-0 at Ashton Gate to set up a tie against Swansea later this month.
But Adams singled out Marvin Elliott and Lee Johnson for praise, admitting he was nervous after failing to knock out the Robins in the original fixture.
"I thought we could have finished them off at Fratton Park," said Adams. "You think to yourself, 'have you blown it?'
"It was a good competition in (the midfield) this evening," he added. "Elliott was good and little Johnson. If anything I think they may have just edged it in there. But we stayed with it."
