Maynard news boosts Robins

Bristol City, 16:47, December 11, 2008 ,

Bristol City have been handed a boost by the news striker Nicky Maynard did not pick up a serious injury in the 3-1 defeat at Ipswich.

The £2.25million summer signing from Crewe looked like he could be set for a long-term absence from the Robins side when he was stretchered off at Portman Road on Wednesday. Maynard appeared in pain and had his leg placed in a brace following Alex Bruce's two-footed tackle which earned the Ipswich man a red card.
However following a full examination on Thursday morning, City have confirmed there is no lasting damage to Maynard's leg.
A Robins' club spokesman said: "Fortunately he was left with just stud marks and bruising on his shin rather than anything more serious."
