Jamie McAllister is again set to miss out as Bristol City travel to Ipswich on Wednesday so Liam Fontaine will continue at left-back.
Boss Gary Johnson was hopeful of having the 30-year-old Scotland B international back in the side following a one-game suspension which sidelined him for Saturday's 0-0 draw against Swansea at Ashton Gate. However a toe injury looks like keeping him out of the line up at Portman Road this week, while he is also a doubt for the weekend's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Fontaine looks like securing another start, while Lee Trundle will hope to feature after playing for just 20 minutes of Saturday's game against his former club Swansea. However Nicky Maynard and Stern John remain favourites to get the nod from Johnson.
Midfielder Lee Johnson and striker Dele Adebola are again ruled out due to respective ankle and dead leg injuries.
