Robins ace facing six-week layoff
Bristol City, 17:40, January 29, 2009 ,
Bristol City have confirmed that key midfielder Marvin Elliott is going to miss around six weeks with his groin injury.
Elliott was sent for scans on the injury he sustained in the 2-0 victory at Plymouth and the club's worst fears were confirmed when it emerged he had torn his groin muscle.
The highly-rated 24-year-old will now undergo treatment in a bid to be fit again by the middle of March.
City manager Gary Johnson said: "It is a very unfortunate injury and he will be a big miss for us. At these times I always feel sorry for the player.
"Marvin is such a great competitor and he feels very disappointed that he has to miss a group of matches.
"He is a great lover of playing football and we will have to hold him back so he doesn't return too soon."
