Robins up for the Cup
Bristol City, 16:47, January 2, 2009 ,
Bristol City are closing in on the signing of Slovakian striker Peter Styvar on a two-and-a-half-year deal, according to reports.
The 28-year-old MSK Zilina star is a long-term target of boss Gary Johnson as he looks to try and turn his side's flatering play-off push around.
The Robins travel to Portsmouth for the FA Cup third-round clash on Saturday with an embarassment of riches up front now Dele Adebola has recovered from a dead leg.
And with Nicky Maynard now in form, Johnson must now decide where the likes of Stern John, Lee Trundle and John Akinde fit into his plans.
The Ashton Gate boss is hoping to take advantage of Portsmouth's recent poor run "because no-one really expects us to win and all the pressure is going to be on Portsmouth".
