Bristol City midfielder Gavin Williams is back for the clash with Southampton after a calf injury but Stern John is ineligible.
Robins boss Gary Johnson has pushed his squad hard after the 4-1 home hammering by Reading and claims team spirit has been boosted as a result.
He told the club's website: "We've done a lot of running, and that's what people generally perceive to be punishment. Most people don't like running, and certainly not beyond their limits.
"Most have coped with that very well and they've pulled each other through it. Sometimes you need a common hatred, and I've probably been that this week. That's good because it's got them together."
Striker John cannot play against his parent club during his loan with City while fellow hitman Nicky Maynard has a knock and is a doubt. The game comes too soon for toe injury victims Jamie McAllister and Louis Carey.
