Doncaster are on the verge of signing Steve Brooker from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old impressed while on loan at the Keepmoat Stadium earlier in the season before a calf injury cut short his spell and he returned to Ashton Gate.
However the player is now close to returning to fitness and a permanent switch to Rovers will be completed as long as he can hammer out personal terms and pass a medical.
"We've agreed on a fee with Doncaster and now it's up to Steve to discuss personal terms with them," City chief executive Colin Sexstone said.
