Bristol Rovers chairman Nick Higgs insists the club are determined to keep hold of Mustapha Carayol as speculation continues to mount over his future.
Rovers rejected a six-figure bid from a Championship club this week and Higgs confirmed they are trying to extend the midfielder's stay as he enters the final year of his contract. "We have been negotiating with Mustapha for a number of weeks and have now made him an offer to try to persuade him to extend his stay at the club," Higgs told The Post. "We've already had one formal offer from a Championship club, which we have rejected, but I know there are a number of other clubs also interested in him. "There will be a lot of interest in him over the next few weeks, but we are keen to keep our best players at the club and Muzzy is certainly one of those. "We're not under undue pressure to sell because Mustapha still has 12 months on his contract - all I can say right now is that we're doing our best to keep him."
