Farfan signs new deal
Schalke have confirmed Peru striker Jefferson Farfan has signed a new four-year deal with the Bundesliga club.
Farfan turned down an initial contract offer from the club last year, leading to increased speculation about his future at the Veltins-Arena. However, the 27-year-old has had a change of heart and has now put pen-to-paper on a new deal keeping him at the club until 2016. "We had always said that we were open to talks and about a fortnight ago there were the first signs of him coming back to the negotiating table, and we took advantage of that,'' said director of sport Horst Heldt. "We are very, very pleased that it has worked out because we always wanted to extend Jefferson's contract."
