Schalke general manager Horst Heldt admits that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's future is still up in the air with further talks planned.

The Dutch international striker's future has been the subject of much speculation but contract discussions were put on until after Euro 2012. But despite dialogue already having taken place between the club and the player's representatives, no deal has been reached. The 28-year-old joined Schalke from Italian giants AC Milan in August 2010 and scored 29 league goals last season but, while Heldt admits they want to keep him at the club, they will look elsewhere if a deal cannot be agreed. "Klaas-Jan knows what he has here at Schalke and we know about his quality," he said. "His decision depends on his sporting future. We had a talk last weekend and we will have another talk in the next few days and make a decision. "We can prepare well for the future and we know what we want to achieve in the future. Klaas-Jan is a footballer on a high level, but we also have different options."
