Naldo's move from Werder Bremen to Wolfsburg has been held up after the defender failed an initial medical for his proposed new club.
The Brazil international had agreed to join the Wolves in a deal worth around £4.2million and he was set to put pen to paper on a four-year contract. But the 29-year-old Brazil has failed a first medical and the deal is now in the balance. Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath, speaking to kicker-Sportmagazin, said they still hope to conclude the transfer but he will now have to undergo a more thorough investigation. "At this point in time we are not able to complete the transfer," Magath said. "We are still very keen to seal the transaction but we are forced to have a more detailed medical to find out if the player is fully able to give his very best in the years to come." Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs also hopes the move will eventually get the green light, adding: "I am expecting the transfer to go through," said Allofs. "I am not surprised, I have to say. "If you have a medical with a player aged 29, you are always able to identify problems. It's obvious the club will be looking after that."
