Pizarro close to Bayern move
Claudio Pizarro has reportedly passed a medical at Bayern Munich ahead of a proposed move to the club from Werder Bremen.
The 33-year-old marksman remains one of the Bundesliga's most prolific goal-scorers despite his advancing years and is believed to be on the verge of completing the switch from his current club to the Champions League finalists on a one-year deal. Sporting director Christian Nerlinger has previously stated the club's admiration for the veteran Peruvian and seemed happy to confirm speculation that a deal was on the cards when rumours first began circulating earlier this year. Pizarro has scored 18 goals for his club this season, his fourth with Werder Bremen, though the former Bundesliga champions have fallen short of pre-season targets, enduring a difficult run in the closing stages of the season and eventually finishing ninth. With Ivica Olic seemingly bound for a summer move to Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg, Pizarro is seen as an ideal replacement and the perfect partner for first-choice attacker Mario Gomez.
