Marcus Rosenberg will leave Werder Bremen at the end of the season after it was revealed that the club will not be extending his deal.

The Swedish striker's current deal runs out at the conclusion of the current campaign but, after bagging 10 goals in 32 Bundesliga games this term, he will sever his ties with the German outfit. The 29-year-old put in some decent performances but it appears it was not enough for him to earn a new deal. Werder sporting director Klaus Alofs said: "The decision was not easy. Mark is a reliable player who has done well in accordance with his qualities. "The bottom line is he has scored some goals, but not enough. We now want some new players up front." The player's agent Martin Dahlin confirmed that his client is now looking for a new challenge, saying: "It was a wonderful time for Markus, but unfortunately it is now ending."
