Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Bayern Munich's Champions League final defeat to Chelsea was more painful than their defeat in 1999.
With the game being played on home turf at the Allianz Arena, the Bavarian giants were expected to cruise to victory but eventually lost out on penalties to a stubborn Chelsea side.
The result brought back memories of their dramatic last-minute final defeat to Manchester United in 1999 but Rummenigge says the recent loss is far more painful for the club.
"When I wake up, my first thoughts are always about this game," he said. "The pain within our club is so strong, stronger than it was after we lost against Manchester United in the final in 1999.
"I feel it is going to haunt us for a long time to come", he added.
