Rummenigge plays down Pirlo rumours
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has denied claims that Bayern have made an attempt to sign Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo this summer.
The 33-year-old Italy international was one of the players of the tournament at Euro 2012, pulling the strings for the Azzurri as they made it all the way to the final in Poland and Ukraine. He enjoyed a superb season for Juve last term as the Old Lady lifted the Serie A trophy, and a few of Europe's top clubs seemingly took note. The Bavarians were linked with a swoop for the veteran schemer but Rummenigge has rubbished the claims, with a statement on the club website reading: "Bayern have neither contacted the player and his advisers, nor made an offer to Juventus." Pirlo played in 37 Serie A games for Juventus last season and scored three goals after joining the Bianconeri on a free transfer following a decade at AC Milan.
