Schaaf gets Bremen backing

Werder Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf has been given the backing of director of sport Klaus Allofs, despite a poor start to the season.

Bremen have only picked up seven points from seven matches in the Bundesliga this season which has resulted in suggestions that Schaaf's 13-year tenure could be coming to an end. But Allofs has reiterated that his position is not under threat at this moment in time. "When I see the dedication he has to his job and how much attention he pays to details, and how painstakingly he works, then that always furthers my conviction in him," he said. "Thomas remains a long way ahead of his colleagues in this regard."
