Wolfsburg announce Pannewitz deal
Bundesliga,
Last updated:
Wolfsburg have announced the signing of troubled star Kevin Pannewitz from Hansa Rostock for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old has been with Rostock since 2008 but had recently expressed his desire to leave the club after they were relegated to the 3. Fussball-Liga for the first time in their history.
For all his talent, Paanewitz has often found himself in the headlines for the wrong reasons, regularly putting on weight and was recently suspended by Hansa for alcohol abuse.
However, Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath believes the former Germany youth international still has the ability to succeed in the Bundesliga and hopes a change of scenery will help him finally fulfil his potential.
"Kevin has the potential to play in the Bundesliga," Magath said. "Unfortunately, he has not always dealt with his talent professionally in recent years.
"Now he's getting a second chance with us. I hope he makes good use of this in a new environment."
