Clarets fail in Tudgay approach
Burnley, 16:40, July 10, 2009 ,
Sheffield Wednesday are reported to have turned down an offer from Burnley for star striker Marcus Tudgay.
The 26-year-old striker has been a long-term target for Burnley boss Owen Coyle and reports suggest the Owls have turned down a £1.5million bid from the Clarets.
Tudgay joined the Hillsborough side in a £250,000 move from Derby in 2006 and has established himself as one of Wednesday's best players.
Owls boss Brian Laws is known to be keen to keep hold of his best players and is eager to keep Tudgay, who was voted the PFA Fans Championship Player Of The Year as well as the Sheffield Wednesday Player of the Year last season.
However, Tudgay's agent, former Derby player Darryl Powell, claims a move to the Premier League could still surface for his in-demand client.
Powell said: "It's a fair price for someone with a year left on their contract and I'm not sure this is the end of it."
If Burnley do manage to convince the Owls to part company with Tudgay or if they sign any other player we will let you know with our new major news and scores SMS service.
