Clarets wrap up new deal

Burnley, 11:03, June 4, 2010 ,

Martin Paterson has signed a new three-year contract with Burnley, committing the striker to the club until 2013.

The 23-year-old still had two years left on his previous deal, but Brian Laws has confirmed his importance to the squad by offering him an extension on improved terms.
Paterson, who joined the Clarets for £1million from Scunthorpe in June 2008, missed almost four months of the Premier League campaign but is likely to play an integral part this season following the exit of Steven Fletcher.
Laws admitted: "It's absolutely marvellous to see the likes of Martin signing a new, improved contract.
"We feel he is a major player and the fact he is extending his contract now shows he has ambition to help this club back into the Premier League."
