Eddie Howe is delighted Burnley can get their teeth into the local competition immediately in this season's npower Championship.
Monday's fixture announcement handed Howe's Clarets a mouth-watering clash against relegated Bolton, whose boss Owen Coyle will return to Turf Moor for the first time since leaving to take charge of the Trotters in January 2010.
Further inter-Lancashire hostilities await against Blackpool and fierce rivals Blackburn, and Howe believes the fans will be the winners.
"For both sets of supporters it's a fantastic game and it really gets the season off with a bang," he told his club's official website when asked about welcoming Wanderers.
"What makes this year a great season for our supporters is that there is a lot of local pride at stake and we will be doing our best to come out on top in those games."
He added: "Hopefully we will come back a better team than last year, learn our lessons and improve. It's a bit more of a northern league, which is great from our perspective. It will be tough, but we will be prepared for it."
