Laws completes first deal
Burnley, 14:04, May 28, 2010 ,
Burnley have signed midfielder Dean Marney from Hull City for a fee in the region of £500,000.
Clarets boss Brian Laws has made his first move into the transfer market as he plans an instant return to the Premiership and has moved quickly to snap up the 26-year-old on a three-year deal.
It brings to an end a four-year stay at the KC Stadium and Laws believes the former Tottenham man will be a valuable addition to his ranks for next season.
"It is a good way to start and I am delighted we have got Dean," Laws revealed. "Midfield is an area we wanted to strengthen and for a young age he has a lot of experience.
"Dean has played for two years in the Premier League so he knows what is required. He is a box-to-box player, full of energy, and his link play with the midfield and forwards is exceptional.
"His pedigree, coming from Tottenham, shows that he can play and he will be a great addition to the squad."
